Seagate to write down value of some assets Seagate Technology, the disk-drive maker with operations in Bloomington and Shakopee, will write down the value of some assets this quarter because of the economic slowdown. Seagate, based in Scotts Valley, Calif., also is reviewing the value of its property and equipment, according to a regulatory filing. The company said the cost incurred in the period ending Jan. 2 will be material, without specifying its size. Technology companies are reeling as consumers slow purchases, hurt by a recession that has cost almost 2 million U.S. jobs.
